Amandla Stenberg seems unreal, is there anything she can’t do? She’s Rue in The Hunger Games, she has become an internet tour de force schooling us about cultural appropriation and shines a much-needed light on the media’s double standards surrounding racial injustices, she’s written young adult fiction and also appeared in Rookie Mag and now, alongside her best friend and writer Zander Hawley they have brought us a self-titled debut EP consisting of four tracks.
The tracks are folksy and beautiful, the soft harmonies are melodic and effervescently airy. Amandla had this to say via Twitter…
“Honeywater has given me the opportunity to grow as a violinist and vocalist, to push myself and be adventurous. I hope you enjoy”
Honeywater showcases some of Amandla’s talents, her dulcet voice and the gorgeous strings on the EP shows no bounds as to what she can do. She and Zander compliment each other beautifully.
Listen to the full EP on Apple Music or purchase the EP via iTunes.
Pay attention to Amandla, we are in the presence of a strong-willed young activist who is multifaceted and utilizing the most of her talents. I look forward to more Honeywater.
