Founding member and guitarist for the J Geils band, J Geils, passed away Tuesday at the age of 71 from what appears to be natural causes.
Giles was attending college when he met and formed The J Geils band with Danny Klein (Bass), Richard Salwitz (Harmonica), Peter Wolfe (Vocals),and Seth Justman (Keyboards). They released their self titled debut album in 1970, and went on to record such hits as Love Stinks (1980), Freeze Frame ( 1981), and probably their most popular single, Centerfold (1981). Along the way, they toured with big named bands such as, The Rolling Stones and Peter Frampton. The band called it quits in 1985, due to tension with in its ranks.
