Despite it being Superbowl Sunday, the crowd packed into Cains Ballroom to watch South Africa’s Kongos take the stage.
The band hit the stage singing Hey I Don’t Know and were backed by a colorful projection of video clips ranging from what looked like black and white movies to psychedelic flowers as they made their way through their 13 song set.
Most of the songs performed were from the bands debut album, Lunatic, which was first released December 2012 and later re-released February 2014, when the band signed with Epic Records.
The crowd, didn’t seem to mind that they were missing one of the biggest sporting events of the year, when the first accordion strands of Come With Me Now hit, the floor at the Cains started jumping and the crowd rocking.
Who needs a night of cheating football players and sad sappy commercials, when you have a chance to see some fantastic live music.
