Experimental folk phenom, Devendra Banhart has announced a follow-up album to 2013’s Mala, Ape in Pink Marble will be released September 23 via Nonesuch and will feature Banhart’s continuing work with musicians Noah Georgeson and Josiah Steinbrick, both of whom contributed to Mala. Banhart has shared the first look into Ape in Pink Marble in the form of the leading track, Middle Names.
Middle Names is dreamy and soothing acoustic lullaby of a track that is reminiscent of his early work (Rejoicing in the Hands). Banhart’s vocals are paired harmoniously over gently strumming guitar plucking with melancholic lyrics like,“why is the moon so bright? Why are you so nice? See you alone at the Walgreens at night.” Listen below.

When I’m on the front row on the barricade of a concert… I feel that I am truly home.
I’m also a proud and happy vinyl crate-digger. Whether it’s searching for vinyl at flea markets, garage sales, vintage shops… I am a sucker for the crackling of a good record when the needle drops on a turntable.
I am a true Cancer with Moon in Cancer and ascending in Pisces.
Also, loves dogs (especially my son Elvis) and quality food porn pictures.
Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook: @youthquakermimi
