Ezra Furman “The Prisoner”

Ezra Furman has announced an extensive 2016 tour to support his standout LP, Perpetual Motion People. To celebrate, he has shared the B-side to Restless Year entitled ‘The Prisoner’ exclusively via Consequence of Sound. The swinging track sees upbeat acoustic arrangements underpinned with a layer of dark nuance as he sings “I am prisoner in the basement of this house.” Characteristically, Furman has proven again that it’s his quirky disjointedness that continues to add intriguing depth to him as well as to his songs.

Ezra Furman shows no sign of slowing down, the band are in the middle of West Coast dates including an LA appearance at The Echo tomorrow night and along with the newly announced dates, Ezra Furman has been confirmed for an appearance at SXSW next year. Which of course we will be at again, Ezra’s already on our Must See list.

Perpetual Motion People, delivers a cascade of memorably bristling hooks driven by a unique splicing of timeless influences, delivered with a restless urgency and combative spirit that shines through the American’s vocals and lyrics. Having taken his time to work his way into the public consciousness, Furman’s time is unquestionably now, as he finally faces an expectant audience hungry for the next stage of his thrilling approach, on record and on stage.

In other news, Ezra Furman has been announced as the author of the upcoming 33 1/3 book on Lou Reed’s Transformer. A lifelong Reed fan, it was a natural choice to pen this latest title of the influential book series. It’s set to be published sometime in 2018, which makes me incredibly excited and I think that Ezra is a perfect choice to pen the book just by hearing his music alone.

Most important thing to know about me is that I'm a melomaniac and shameless fangirl. I am addicted to concerts, they are my sanctuary and safe haven. When I'm on the front row on the barricade of a concert... I feel that I am truly home. I'm also a proud and happy vinyl crate-digger. Whether it's searching for vinyl at flea markets, garage sales, vintage shops... I am a sucker for the crackling of a good record when the needle drops on a turntable. I am a true Cancer with Moon in Cancer and ascending in Pisces. Also, loves dogs (especially my son Elvis) and quality food porn pictures. Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook: @youthquakermimi
