Father John Misty “Ballad of the Dying Man”

J. Tillman will return with a new Father John Misty album called Pure Comedy on April 7th via Sub Pop and follows 2015’s I Love You, Honeybear. The new album will cover themes such as politics, aging, and human connection… All of which happen to be at the center of his latest single Ballad of the Dying Man.
With the accompaniment by an acoustic guitar, airy piano, and a faint choir, it’s a slow-simmering treat. It gives the listeners a glance into the mind of a man who is on the verge of passing and he’s petrified of the thought of not being able to help his fellowman through a particularly difficult time (sound familiar?). With lyrics like “overrated hacks running amok, all of the pretentious ignorant voices that will go unchecked, the homophobes, hipsters, and 1%,” it’s a dark yet pensive track that really resonates during these dark times, maybe even for those who would rather be complacent and silent during a trying time. Melomaniac and shameless fangirl. I am addicted to concerts. They are my sanctuary and safe haven. When I'm on the front row and at barricade at a concert... I feel that I am truly home. I'm also a proud and happy crate-digger. Whether it's searching for vinyl at flea markets, garage sales, vintage shops... I am a sucker for the crackling of a good record when the needle drops on a turntable. Also, loves dogs and food. Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook: @youthquakermimi
