Gotcha Covered: Back Light Garden Does Jackson 5

French band Back Light Garden have released a cover of The Jackson 5′s first number one hit “I Want You Back.” Put a little Jackson 5 mixed with Pop Punk and you have me hooked!

The song was originally released in 1969 (and written by Motown songwriting team The Corporation). What makes this cover so good, is Back Light Garden have chosen to make it heavier with their pop punk sound, but kept it true to the original so that is is still a fun, danceable song!

Max Desgarnier, the vocalist for the band said this:

“This is the first cover we’ve recorded in awhile and we wanted it to be special; something that is iconic, but also not over played. We ended up choosing ‘I Want You Back’ by the Jackson 5 because of its classic status, it’s instantly recognizable, and it has personally inspiring vocals.”

The video was shot at France’s oldest skate park Claouey Skatepark, which was constructed sometime in the 70’s. Matthieu Kirby, the guitarist, produced the track.
