Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia is best known for her cover hit single back in 1997 Torn. Her last album was released back in 2009, Come To Life. We find out today that Natalie Imbruglia announced the follow-up called Male. It’s a compilation of cover songs originally written and performed by male artists and today we get the first taste of that with its first single. A rendition of Daft Punk’s addicting Instant Crush, which came out on Random Access Memories back in 2013 which features vocals from the Strokes and the Voidz’s Julian Casablancas.
Natalie explains why she chose to cover Instant Crush, on the original version, “you can’t really hear what the song is about because of the effect that Julian’s voice has, which I love, by the way. However, it is such a beautiful story that I want people to hear it and connect with the words. I’m really proud of the way it turned out.”
