It’s finally here.
As I was boarding the plane for my 6 am flight to Chicago, the Voidz finally released the video for Human Sadness, I may or may not have but definitely watched it as my flight was boarding because I could not miss this video.
After taunting the world with a much-anticipated trailer and hosting various screenings of the 13 minute mini-film last week, Julian Casablancas + the Voidz have finally released the video for Human Sadness, from last year’s LP, Tyranny.
Human Sadness was originally released last September as a single and has been much hyped about with fans because of its message and concept. The inspiration of the track was inspired by the passing of Julian’s father.
The video was directed by not one but two directors, one of them being long-time director and collaborator, Warren Fu as well as Nicholaus Goossen, and featured some shots by Wiisa. It took over six months to create.. Which had the fans grow weary but nevertheless.. It’s FINALLY here and the video starts of with a quote from Rumi (Beyond all ideas of right and wrong there is a field, I’ll meet you there.) and hits on visual themes of love, war, abandonment, solitude, and others everyday facets of the human life. The melodies and vocals are dynamic, it’s a crescendo of overall sound, meaning, and cinematography.
