Justin Bieber Performs “Love Yourself” ft. James Bay & “Sorry” at BRIT Awards

I know what you’re thinking… Justin Bieber… Really? But before you roll your eyes at us, just hear us out. While I still think Justin’s antics were disgraceful and childish, the fact that he at least did own up to his past douchey behavior gives him a smidgen of respect from me.
His newest album has also won me over, at first not by choice (thanks Teri) but in our usual every day texting Teri happened to send me the video for Love Yourself back in November. After seeing the video and loving the message and the track, I decided to give the album a go. Now, I can’t stop listening to it and like I said, one of the standout tracks for me has been Love Yourself. The track is clearly a breakup track that resonates with anyone who has dealt with heartache.

Fast forward to the Brit Awards. Justin was nominated (and surprisingly won) for Best International Male Solo Artist beating Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Father John Misty, and The Weeknd. Bieber then stole the show at the star-studded ceremony on Wednesday night by sending the crowd into a frenzy at London’s O2 Arena where he performed with James Bay (who won for British Male Solo Artist). The surprising pair performed a version of Bieber’s Love Yourself. First, let’s get the main question out-of-the-way… HOW did that come about?

That’s a very good question,” Bay tells BBC’s Newsbeat. “I met him at four in the morning at an Italian MTV EMA party. He was very good on the pool table, that’s the first thing I noticed. He was a lovely guy but I’ve seen him and his manager at other different points along the way and became more and more friendly. They were in a spot for this show where they needed a guitar player and it was kind of a ‘hey do you fancy doing it?

The most important thing to know about me is that I'm a melomaniac and shameless fangirl. I am addicted to concerts, they are my sanctuary and safe haven. When I'm on the front row on the barricade of a concert... I feel that I am truly home. I'm also a proud and happy vinyl crate-digger. Whether it's searching for vinyl at flea markets, garage sales, vintage shops... I am a sucker for the crackling of a good record when the needle drops on a turntable.
