Listen to Bleached “Flipside”

I’ve had my eye on Los Angeles garage-punk trio Bleached for a while and they have yet to disappoint. They’re back with a brand new EP, Can You Deal?, which is the follow-up to last year’s LP, Welcome The Worms. (The EP will be accompanied by a zine, also titled Can You Deal?, that will feature essays, art, and poetry from people like Hayley Williams, Tegan Quin, Liz Phair, Alice Glass, and Julien Baker. All proceeds from the zine will go to Planned Parenthood.)

The second track from this EP is Flipside and it’s bringing me straight back to the ’90s. It’s very ’90s Alt-rock that I grew up loving but it’s got a twist of melancholia with its lyrics.

Jennifer Clavin (vox) shared some thoughts in a press release:

I was thinking about the relationship we have with an album or a song and how we connect them to what is happening in our lives, like falling in love, being fascinated by a new friend, or some kind of pivotal moment in life corresponding with the record I’m listening to. Once the comedown of that time hits I can’t even listen to that record without thinking about that time or that person. Albums are the soundtrack to our lives, and this song is an ode to the nostalgia certain albums bring.

Listen below.

The EP is out March 3rd via Dead Oceans.
