THIS IS NOT A DRILL. It’s FINALLY here, a brand new song from The Strokes. Just let that sink in for a bit. OKay, now that it’s sinking in, there’s also their brand new EP Future Present Past.
The new track, Oblivious premiered on the first episode of frontman Julian Casablancas’ new Sirius XMU radio show, Culture Void. Released digitally June 3rd (next Friday, as in one week from now!) as well as on 10” vinyl red vinyl that is available to order now via Cult Records.
Their first release since 2013’s Comedown Machine will also feature two other brand tracks, Drag Queen and Threat Of Joy as well as a remix of Oblivious by drummer, Fab Moretti.
The leading track Oblivious is spectacular. Julian’s vocals sound better than ever and the vocals towards the end are incredible. The drumming is fast paced in the beloved Fab Moretti’s agile fashion and Nikolai’s bass line is subtle deep-rooted while the guitar interplay was classic Strokes sound. It was nostalgic yet modern. Safe to say, the Strokes are BACK. Listen below.
