After mysterious band-related posters began popping up about their soon to be premiere single, Yuk Foo, we discovered that the track wasn’t so new. Wolf Alice had been performing it since 2016, we know because we heard it live for ourselves.
However, now we can say that Wolf Alice are officially back with the official release of Yuk Foo which is on their upcoming and much-anticipated second LP Visions of Life.
The song premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show (perfect welcome back after being on maternity leave) and it’s more sinister with a crashing wave of roaring guitars and menacing drum beats layered over lyrics like “You bore me, you bore me to death, you deplore me, and I don’t give a shit.” and “I wanna fuck all the people I meet. Fuck all my friends and all the people in the street.”
Ellie Rowsell nails the ominous and nefarious mood with howling lyrics and cackle-like voices. Then the wailing at the end leaves you wanting more. There’s plenty of fury packed into this track that shot like a bat out of hell. We are absolutely loving the evolution of Wolf Alice and we can’t wait to see what’s next. Watch the lyric video below.
