The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty is all set to headline a November 16 concert at Bataclan reopening show in Paris which is three days after the anniversary of the November 13, 2015 attacks.
It will be the venue’s first show since it closed indefinitely following last year’s terrorist attacks and as Variety reports, the Bataclan’s management have announced more concerts for later this year which includes Youssou N’Dour and the Super Etoile de Dakar will take the stage on November 18, followed by Nada Surf on December 2nd, and MZ on December 3rd.
The Bataclan’s management are currently renovating the concert hall’s interior and plan to re-open in the fall, the administrators remarked, “We wish to preserve the warmth and conviviality [and] maintain the popular and festive spirit which has always defined [The Bataclan].”
Doherty is currently putting the “finishing touches” on his latest record, which is the follow-up to 2009’s Grace/Wastelands. As you remember the Libertines returned last year with their latest record, Anthems for Doomed Youth.
Pete had this to say via his official Facebook page…
Excited and privileged to confirm that Pete Doherty will headline Le Bataclan in Paris on it’s re-opening on November 16th which will be just over a year after terrorists targeted the Eagles Of Death Metal show at the theatre where 89 people were killed
“The work of renovation of Le Bataclan has started,” a statement reads. “It consists of rehabilitation of all the infrastructure and facilities… We’re going to try to preserve its warmth and friendliness. We want to maintain its spirit”
