Pete Doherty has spoken about his friendship with Amy Winehouse. He even performed an acoustic version of his song Flags Of The Old Regime, in a new video.
The Libertines made this announcement on their official Facebook page…Peter’s recorded an interview in Thailand talking about Amy and his solo tune, Flags Of The Old Regime. Also, we’ve announced T in the Park and the 3Arena in Dublin for the Libertines in as many days. Might be time for another announcement soon though, eh…
Pete discusses his writing sessions with Amy Winehouse as well as his forthcoming single (Flags Of The Old Regime) which he wrote following her tragic death in 2011.
Back in 2012, Doherty recalled what it was like immediately following Winehouse’s death. Mitch Winehouse, Amy’s father, did not permit him to attend his daughter’s funeral.
“When Amy died I was sat in a matchbox room in Camden Town, not able to leave, basically wallowing in my own filth,” Doherty said. “Literally knee-deep in shit. Literally not able to move. I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t see anyone, I couldn’t pick up the guitar and when I did pick up the guitar it was woeful ballads about how Amy wouldn’t be coming round tonight. It wasn’t a very inspiring time.”
The Libertines are also coming back, they’re headlining T in the Park this July 10th to 12th in Scotland.
