SXSW Round 3: Artists to Watch

We finish Round One of the SXSW announcements today, with the last of the performers we are hoping to see while we attend the festival.

In 2009 Big Pink was featured on a Cure Tribute album titled Pictures of You. They got my attention by doing a haunting cover of Love Song, that was so far off from the original I fell in love with it and have been a fan ever since. To this day, their A Brief History of Love album still gets heavy play on my iPod…

No matter what venue I have been to recently, I have seen a flyer that says Thee Oh Sees have either already played or will be playing after I leave the area… It is time I see them..
Because I am loving Twilight Sad’s newest album Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave, they are high on my list of “to be see “.
I have a Warm Soda CD. It is poppy fun music, the kind you dance around your room, singing into a hairbrush, alone of course , kind of music..I plan to do the same when I see them perform. Minus the hairbrush.
We will be back next week with the start of round two, see you then.

You can usually find me traveling, queuing, or at barricade for a band. I am most likely doing all three things in a day.
If I’m not at a concert you can also find me digging through crates for that coveted black disc, I’m an avid vinyl lover and I have the receipts to prove it.
