The Libertines third music video, You’re My Waterloo, has been released today and although the Libs aren’t starring in the video.. It does feature Carl Barât in the c0-director chair with longtime Libertine collaborator, Roger Sargent.
The black-and-white video stars Freddie Highmore (The Bates Motel) and Marama Corlett (A.D. The Bible Continues) as a volatile and turbulent couple in love. It’s very much like The Libertines own story, as NME states “Carl was keen to show a glimpse of the London he and Peter knew before The Libertines, a kind of nocturnal nether world, beautiful, intense, romantic. We decided not to feature the band and to tell a story through the eyes of a fictional boy and a girl. It was a perfect opportunity to work with Carl, to make the story and the setting come alive… I wanted it to hold a mirror up to Peter and Carl’s relationship, but with more purity and beauty than is usually portrayed.”
Settle the fire at a full three bars this December. Dearest friends, followers, subscribers and survivors of Albion… we’re very pleased to premiere our brand new video for You’re My Waterloo, directed by Roger Sargent and Carl and featuring Freddie Highmore.
