Thomas Cohen has released a haunting, beautifully fragile single, Bloom Forever.
If Cohen looks familiar it may be because he was the front man to the now defunct band S.C.U.M., who released Again Into Eyes back in 2011.
After the breakup of his band, his marriage to Peaches Geldof and the birth of his two sons gave his song writing new found focus. Unfortunately in 2014, Peaches died, leaving Cohen to raise his sons alone. To continue work on his unfinished album, Cohen relocated to Iceland, where he continued to write and record the rest of Bloom Forever, finding peace in the process.
Pouring the last three years into his songs, Cohen is aware there’s a risk that some listeners might view the entire album through the prism of spring 2014’s events.
“I would hate for somebody to listen to the record and just think about me, you know? That’s not why you really make music. You’re making music for somebody else to emotionally respond to.”
Bloom Forever, Cohen’s debut solo album will release May 6th via Stolen Records
