We’ve already watched a glimpse of Adam Greens technicolor and papier-mâché world for his upcoming film, Aladdin.
Aladdin is the second feature film from musician, artist, and filmmaker Adam Green. Set in the modern-day, Adam’s hyper-sensory, poetic, and humorously subversive take on the classic Arabian Nights tale stars Adam himself as Aladdin living with his dysfunctional family in a “regular” American town ruled by a corrupt Sultan, with a socialite daughter.
The fantasy film stars an ensemble cast featuring some of New York’s biggest arts, music, and film talent. The film includes Natasha Lyonne, Macaulay Culkin, Alia Shawkat, Francesco Clemente, Jack Dishel, Har Mar Superstar, Devendra Banhart, Bip Ling, Zoe Kravitz and so many more.
On his multifaceted career, Green says: “You know how people are always looking for a unifying theory? I was looking for a unifying theory of artistic expression. I was trying to create some kind of fluidity within my music, art, writing. If you listen to my songs, you see they’re kind of cartoonish. I try to make songs like my paintings. When creating my movie, I approached the script like it was a song.”
