Watch Iggy Pop Cover David Bowie’s “Jean Genie” at Tibet House Benefit

Last night the Tibet House held its annual benefit at New York’s Carnegie Hall where the great minimalist composer Philip Glass curated the lineup. The lineup included FKA twigs, Sharon Jones, Basia Bulat, and others. Iggy Pop was a performer and took the opportunity to cover his late friend and collaborator David Bowie. He covered Jean Genie with members of the Patti Smith group backing him up and he also sang Tonight with Sharon Jones which is a song that Bowie and Pop cowrote for Pop’s 1977 album, The Idiot. Bowie later recorded the song as a duet with Tina Turner on his own 1984 album Tonight and that’s the one that Pop and Jones performed. Watch below.

The most important thing to know about me is that I'm a melomaniac and shameless fangirl. I am addicted to concerts, they are my sanctuary and safe haven. When I'm on the front row on the barricade of a concert... I feel that I am truly home. I'm also a proud and happy vinyl crate-digger. Whether it's searching for vinyl at flea markets, garage sales, vintage shops... I am a sucker for the crackling of a good record when the needle drops on a turntable. I am a true Cancer with Moon in Cancer and ascending in Pisces. Also, loves dogs (especially my son Elvis) and quality food porn pictures. Social Media: @youthquakermimi
