Liam Gallagher’s first debut solo album, As You Were, is set for an October release. We’ve heard teasers of his first song, Wall of Glass, and Gallagher premiered the song for Mista Jam via BBC Radio 1 today and now not only can we listen to it but there’s an official video. Watch him honor the Manchester victims and perform his new songs here.
The track is bluesy straight away with dynamic guitar riffs, Gallagher sounds better than ever. Gallagher has swagger, that’s not meant as an insult it’s more of an observation, it’s charismatic. He isn’t pandering to younger fans or trying to be something he’s not. His attitude and demeanor translate and it just so happens that a lot of fans connect with that (young, old, and everyone in between).
François Rousselet directed the video and the cinematography is straight out of a psychological thriller. According to Gallagher, the video’s visuals were inspired in part by James Bond and Bruce Lee films. “I did get to wear a gold Saint Laurent hooded jacket in one scene, which I convinced myself made me look like a modern day Elvis, as he loved to wear gold suits,” he told Pitchfork via email.
