There have been many tributes to late and iconic David Bowie, not least of which was long-time friend of Bowie’s Iggy Pop and we can’t forget Lady Gaga’s tribute at the Grammys. Her performance was either love it or hate it but it was her homage to the great artist. We have one more tribute to the cosmic David Bowie, this one is from Lorde at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday. Lorde wrote a beautifully lovely and well written letter to David Bowie on her Facebook after he passed so it was no surprise that her tribute would be anything but stellar especially when Bowie called her the future of music.
After members of Bowie’s old touring band performed an instrumental medley of his decades-spanning hits which included Space Oddity, Rebel Rebel, Under Pressure, Ziggy Stardust, Fame, and Heroes. Lorde then walks on stage and while she doesn’t particularly sound like Bowie she also didn’t try to imitate him but rather she instead chose to honor Bowie by just performing Life On Mars? and be herself.
