Something special happened last night at New York’s Dream Hotel during a celebration for the legendary rock photographer Mick Rock and for his documentary Shot! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock which premiered earlier that night at the Tribeca Film Festival. (Mick Rock is known for famously capturing some of rock & roll’s most iconic albums covers like Lou Reed’s Transformer, the Stooges’ Raw Power, and Queen’s Queen II as well as a legendary video director which videos include David Bowie’s Life on Mars?, Space Oddity, and The Jean Genie. Of course, he’s also photographed artists like Debbie Harry, Lou Reed, David Bowie, MGMT, The Misfits, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and so many more.)

So it makes perfect sense that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs not only attend but perform. Which makes it all the more special since they have been on hiatus (the last time they played together was back in 2013) but last night, Karen O, Nick Zinner, and Brian Chase were all in attendance. The bandmates, alongside Money Mark and TV on the Radio’s Jaleel Bunton, covered David Bowie’s Moonage Daydream, Lou Reed Perfect Day, and the Ramones’ Sheena Is a Punk Rocker with Marky Ramone on drums.

Sky Ferreira, Dum Dum Girls’ Kristin Kontrol, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz also performed. Check out the epic setlist below.
