With the soothing feel of Bon Iver, Mutual Benefit’s new releases, New History and Storm Cellar Heart are perfect for the warm summer days that we spend lounging in the sun.
Mutual Benefit, aka Jordon Lee, grew up in Ohio and is currently based in New York, he has crafted pop experiments for almost a decade, blending orchestral instrumentation and ambient electronic sounds. Along with the new releases he announced his newest album Thunder Follows The Light which is expected to drop on 21 September via Transgressive Records.
While sitting through a huge storm in rural New England Jordan found himself becoming transfixed by the time in between the lightning and thunder –
“The silence thick with inevitability”, he notes, before continuing that, “While I was writing the record, everywhere I looked, I saw the massive societal strain on both people and the environment and began to wonder if this is the lightning before some thunderous change. If we are living in that in-between time.”
