Saint Jude releases ‘Deaf Ears Blind Years’, the lead single from his upcoming self-titled EP

Saint Jude’s debut track captures the wistfulness of youth spent at raves and in clubs, spilling out onto London parks at dawn. ‘Deaf Ears Blind Years’, captures a more intimate sound, the switch in style a force of hand. In Jude’s formative years as a DJ and club-goer, he developed tinnitus turning him from the euphoria of bright lights and dance floors and back into the bedroom to work on writing more intimate songs. The first fruit of that period is his upcoming self-titled EP released appropriately under his new moniker. It sees Jude exchanging the loops and the overt electronic production for a Caribou-esque rhythm and simple pining guitar lines. Jude’s hushly-spoken lyrics evoke nostalgia for a youth tinged with the excitement and waywardness. He describes it “as a bit of a breakthrough for me in terms of songwriting – I was writing about real stuff rather than abstract ideas.”

Dead Ears Blind Years’ is taken from Saint JudeEP out in September. It will be released via Slow Dance. You can pre-save the album here

You can usually find me traveling, queuing, or at barricade for a band. I am most likely doing all three things in a day. If I'm not at a concert you can also find me digging through crates for that coveted black disc of vinyl.
