Blood Orange’s newest album Negro Swan has dropped. Dev Hynes’ fourth album as Blood Orange is the follow up to 2016’s Freetwown Sound and Hynes is not messing around. The album is filled with collaborations from Diddy, Tei Shi, A$AP Rocky, and Steve Lacy. The album also has contributions from the likes of Zuri Marley, Aaron Maine, and Kelsey Lu. Janet Mock provides narration throughout as well.

We’ve already heard Charcoal Baby, Jewelry, and the collab with A$AP Rocky collab Chewing Gum which the Hynes and Rocky performed on Jimmy Kimmel last week.

The album is impactful and absolutely necessary in a time of turmoil and chaos throught the world, Hynes had this to say about Negro Swan

“My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color. A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of HOPE, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.”

Hynes will be touring in support of the album this fall, the dates of which you can find HERE.
